ISLAMABAD: The federal government has decided to launch an internship programme with Rs40,000 monthly stipend for 20,000 engineers across the country.

“We have decided to promote the engineering sector in Pakistan,” Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal said while addressing the general meeting of the Institution of Engineers Pakistan in Lahore on Saturday.

“A large number of unemployed engineers in Pakistan need facilities for self-employment.”

He went on to say that a huge amount of budget worth Rs6.5 billion has been approved for five universities. The government has decided to establish an institution with the name of Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan, he added.

Earlier this month, the government announced its decision to launch a skill development programme for 100,000 students.

Special Assistant to the PM on Youth Affairs Shaza Fatima Khawaja announced on December 14 that that the business loan has been turned into a business and agricultural loan programme.

The application will soon be available at pmyp.gov.pk and intended candidates could also apply via PMYP mobile application.

“The purpose of this loan is how to promote business and entrepreneurship. Our children instead of being employment seekers start such businesses via which they provide employment opportunities to others.”
