ISLAMABAD: The federal government has decided to deploy Rangers and FC in Punjab to maintain law and order situation.

Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah directed the Chief Secretary and Inspector General (IG) Punjab to maintain law and order.

Sanaullah has also issued instructions to the authorities to protect the life and property of the people and perform their duties according to the constitution and law.

The interior minister ordered the government officers to not become part of any unconstitutional process.

The interior ministry has also issued a letter to the DG Rangers Punjab, in which it has been asked that Rangers should immediately be deployed to guard the Governor House.

The development came after the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf announced staging a protest outside the Punjab Governor House on Thursday against the governor’s yesterday’s order directing chief minister to seek vote of confidence.

PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry, while announcing the protest in a press conference in Lahore alongside PTI leader Hammad Azhar, leveled allegations against Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari of spending Sindh government’s money for ‘horse trading’ in Punjab, saying PTI members of the Provincial Assembly were getting telephone calls to change their loyalties.

“Our women members were first offered Rs50 million, salute to those MPs who rejected the money offer.”
