The England Test side has hired a team chef for the upcoming Pakistan tour starting from December 01.

The Ben Stokes-led unit will play three five-day games in Rawalpindi, Multan and Karachi.

The appointment comes following a debrief of the limited-overs side’s experiences in the country during their seven-match T20I series.

According to ESPNCricinfo, the feedback from the players and support staff was not good especially on match days.

The publication in its report mentioned that no-one was ill for an extended period of time in the England squad.

However, given the demands of a Test match, and back-to-back matches across 21 days, having someone to oversee food preparation and tailor menus according to specific requirements and tastes throughout felt a necessary controllable to control.

To tackle that issue, the team has hired Omar Meziane, who served in a similar capacity for the England men’s football team during the 2018 FIFA World Cup and Euro 2020.

Mooen Ali, who was captaining the side during the absence of then injured Jos Buttler during England-Pakistan T20Is, also complained about food in Lahore.

“I’ve been a little bit disappointed by the food in Lahore,” he said and then as an afterthought, he added, “Karachi was really nice.”

It is worth mentioning here that the Pindi Cricket Stadium will host the opening Test from December 01 to 05, Multan’s Multan Cricket Stadium will be the venue for the second five-day game from 09-13 December, while Karachi’s National Stadium, now known as the National Bank Cricket Arena will be the venue for the third and final game of the series from 17-21 December.
