LAHORE: PTI chief Imran Khan was discharged from the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital in Lahore on Sunday evening after recuperating from injury. He headed to Zaman Park.

Earlier, Musarrat Jamshed Cheema, the Punjab government spokesperson, said in a statement, that the former premier would be discharged from the Shaukat Khanum hospital today (Sunday) at 12 noon as his health improved.

“Imran Khan’s health is improving thanks to the sincere prayers of millions of people,” she said, adding that the PTI chief postponed the protest for a day because of the return of pilgrims from the Tablighi gathering.

She claimed that such a gesture of Imran has earned him many fans. Earlier, Aaj News while citing sources reported that the former premier would be discharged from the hospital based on his satisfactory medical reports.

“PTI will not leave the mission of real freedom unfulfilled. The leadership will present its new action plan today [Saturday],” she said, adding that the cavalcade of Azadi March would soon head towards Islamabad.

The medical board, headed by Dr Faisal Sultan, performs a daily check-up to see how well Imran Khan’s injuries are healing. Doctors have declared the PTI chief health satisfactory, sources said.

Imran’s blood pressure and sugar reports were “normal”.

Reports of x-ray and CT scans were all reported to be clear on Saturday. But, doctors told Imran not to walk “too much and be extremely careful” when he did.

The former prime minister was left with a wound on the leg when a man near his container in Wazirabad during the ‘Azadi March’ shot at him. The assassination attempt left one dead and several injured.

He was rushed to the Shaukat Khanum hospital, a charitable infirmary set up by himself, in Lahore. At least two bullet fragments were present on Imran’s right thigh, and two in his lower leg, Dr Faisal had said in a briefing to the PM.

The PTI chief is expected to leave for Zaman Park after getting discharged from the Shaukat Khanum hospital.
