Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) issued Tuesday notices to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairperson Imran Khan and other party leaders as part of the investigation into the audio leaks related to the US cipher and money laundering case against the PTI chief.

According to the details, FIA Islamabad has summoned the PTI chief and former foreign minister, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, to appear before the inquiry team at its headquarter in the federal capital on November 3.

Last week, the FIA summoned Qureshi to appear before the inquiry team, but he didn’t appear before the institution.

In the two audio leaks, the former prime minister, Asad Umar, and then-principle secretary Khan could allegedly be heard discussing the US cipher and how to use it in their interest.

The FIA is investigating the audio leaks allegedly featuring Imran Khan, PTI leaders, and a government officer in discussions about a US cipher on the orders of the federal cabinet.

On September 30, the federal cabinet took notice of the matter and constituted a committee to determine legal action against all the involved characters including the former prime minister, ex-Principal Secretary to PM, and senior former ministers.

Apart from this, the FIA Lahore has also summoned the PTI chairman in the prohibited funding probe.

The institution directed Imran Khan to appear at its Lahore office on November 7.

FIA said that the PTI chief had expressed ignorance about PTI Punjab’s accounts, adding that Imran Khan’s authority letter was attached to the account opening form.

Imran Khan is accused of taking Rs5.62m from Tariq Shafi’s account to PTI’s account.

A day earlier, Khan did not appear before the FIA Banking Circle office in Karachi despite being summoned in the party funding case.
