Peshawar gems dealer pays Rs3m price for trust

In Peshawar, a man and his friend have robbed the place where he worked of Rs3 million, in one of the biggest heists in recent times in the city.

Rahimullah, a semi-precious stones dealer in Peshawar, was robbed at gunpoint two days ago. When the police investigated with the help of CCTV footage and a list of suspects, they managed to track the case to a man Rahimullah had employed recently.

Jalal had enlisted help of his friend Fareed Khan to rob Rahimullah. “I had checked out his references,” Rahimullah told Aaj News at the police station. “He had said he was trustworthy and had worked with someone previously for about seven or eight years.”

In fact, Jalal had taken large amounts of money from Rs1.3 million to Rs2 million to the bank for Rahimullah and had established a level of trust.

SP City Atiq Shah told the media that the stolen money and weapons were recovered from the accused.
