  • The Islamabad High Court has given two months to the federal government while hearing the identical petitions seeking the recovery of six missing persons, including journalist Mudassar Naaru. The law minister had asked for the court to grant them eight to 10 weeks as the government wanted to bring law reforms to the criminal justice system.

  • The rupee continued to fall against the dollar in the inter-bank market on Friday, depreciating by Rs3.58. The greenback was being traded at Rs229 in the early morning trade.

  • Queen Elizabeth II, 96 died after ruling for more than seven decades in the United Kingdom. The longest monarch, who was crowned in 1952, spent her last days at Balmoral Castle. The last rites will be performed after ten days. National mourning has been announced until Britan queen’s funeral.

  • The eldest son of late Britain Queen Elizabeth II automatically becomes the king of the United Kindom. He has officially given the title of ‘King Charles III’ yesterday (Thursday). On the demise of her death, he said, “This loss will be felt throughout the world, the queen got the most respect and love.”

  • The president, prime minister and foreign minister expressed condolences on the death of royal majesty. “The void created by the death of Queen Elizabeth II can not be filled in ages,” said President Arif Alvi.

  • Queen of Great Britain came to Pakistan for the first time in February 1961. She visited Karachi, Peshawar, Quetta, Lahore and the northern regions for the second time in October 1998.

  • United Nations Secretary, General Antonio Guterres reached Pakistan on a two-day visit and was received by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar at Islamabad Airport. Antonio Guterres will inspect the flood-affected areas and appeal to the international community to help flood victims.

  • Due to the continual increase in the water level in the Indus River, three more cuts were made to reduce the flood water pressure in the Manchhar Lake. Hundreds of villages have been submerged by floodwaters in Sehwan and its seven unions. The number of flood victims increased to 30 million.

  • The land connection between Sehwan and Dadu, Larkana has been cut off which has made the residents of the affected areas stuck by water along their livestock and belongings.

  • The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Election Commission has summoned Imran Khan today (Friday) in a case pertaining to a violation of the code of conduct in the by-elections. The notice said that government resources were used for the Peshawar rally on September 6.

  • Islamabad High Court on Thursday decided to indict PTI Chairman Imran Khan on September 22 in a contempt case over his remarks about the judge who approved Imran’s chief of staff Shahbaz Gill’s physical remand in a sedition case.

  • “I am ready for talks with anyone but not with thieves,” PTI chief Imran Khan said in the Multan rally. He alleged that the country was led to a quagmire over the last four months. The federal government was attempting to topple the PTI government in Punjab, he claimed.

  • PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz described the PTI chief Imran Khan as “the biggest disaster” of the country while addressing a rally in Chishtian.

  • The ECP has postponed the by-elections across the country due to floods. The new schedule of the by-election will be released later. Voting was to be held on ten seats of the National Assembly and three seats of the Provincial Assemblies.

  • Relief organizations for flood victims in Sindh should speed up their work, Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said in a meeting.

  • Four members of a family killed in flash floods in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Upper Kohistan region.

  • PTI leader Haleem Adil Sheikh was released from the Karachi Jail on Thursday after getting bail in the government land grabbing case.

  • Thirty-two people were killed and dozens injured after a fire broke out in a bar in the southern city of Thuan, Vietnam.

  • Pakistan and Sri Lanka will compete in the Super Four stage of the Asia Cup T20, today (Friday). Two changes in the national team may be possible for the following match. The final between the two teams will be played on Sunday.
