Get ready folks! It’s going to hit right in the nostalgia for the 90’s kids, as some of our favourite childhood cartoons might soon return.

Reboots of “The Powerpuff Girls” and “Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends” are in the works.

The remakes of both the classic cartoon series are being developed by the original creator Craig McCracken, for Hanna-Barbera Studios, Europe.

The setting of the original series is revisited and expanded upon in “The Powerpuff Girls” reboot as Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup battle a range of villains that include old adversaries and new dangers. The preschool animation series “Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends” will return with a fresh group of imaginary pals.

Starting his career with Hanna-Barbera Cartoons in 1992, McCracken has also created Disney’s “Wander Over Yonder” and Netflix’s “Kid Cosmic.”

“The opportunity to bring Craig back to Hanna-Barbera was one we couldn’t pass up,” said Sam Register, president of Cartoon Network Studios, Warner Bros. Animation, and Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe. “He’s bringing two of his greatest works, ‘The Powerpuff Girls’ and ‘Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends,’ along with his unparalleled sense of fun and imagination, and we are so excited for these characters to be a part of the new legacy taking shape at the studio.”

The “Powerpuff Girls” first aired on Cartoon Network in 1998. The show won two Emmy Awards and numerous other animation awards during its 78-episode run. The series follows three young superheroes whose daily tasks include going to school, fighting crime, playing hopscotch, and saving the world before bedtime.

The Power Puff Girls intro starts with Professor Utonium accidentally adding Chemical X into his recipe for creating the perfect little girls, which eventually leads to the three Power Puffs, Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup.

After rewriting the pilot last year, The CW is still working on a live-action revival of the animated series.

The first six seasons of “Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends” aired on Cartoon Network. It won six Emmys during its run and turned into a classic among younger generations.

Both projects’ creation will be supervised by Sarah Fell, vice president of original kids and family animation at HBSE.
