50% voter turnout for Punjab by-election

Lahore: In the Punjab by-elections of Punjab, voter turnout was 49.69 per cent.

PTI won two seats from Jhang, three seats from Lahore, Multan, Muzaffargarh, Dera Ghazi Khan, Sahiwal, Khushab, Bhakkar, Sheikhupura, Faisalabad and Lodhran each.

According to the results received by the Election Commission, the PML-N was only able to win four seats, including PP 168 in Lahore, PP 273 in Muzaffargarh, PP 237 in Bahawalnagar and PP 7 in Rawalpindi. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf won 3 out of 4 seats in Lahore by-elections.

PTI decimates PML-N in Punjab by-elections

Here are the unofficial results:

PTI candidate Mian Muhammad Usman Akram defeated PML-N candidate Rana Ahsan Sharafi while contesting constituency 158 in Lahore.

According to the results of 151 polling stations of the constituency, Mian Muhammad Usman Akram got 37463 votes while Rana Ahsan Ashraf got 31906 votes.

Shabir Gujjar of PTI won 40511 votes from all polling stations of PP167 (Lahore), while Nazir Chauhan of PML-N won 26. Hazar was second with 473 votes.

In Lahore’s PP 170 PTI candidate Zaheer Abbas Khokhar defeated PML-N candidate Muhammad Amin Zulqarnain.

Zaheer Abbas got 24688 votes while Muhammad Amin Zulqarnain got 17519 votes.

The PML-N has won only one seat out of four electoral seats in Lahore.

PML-N’s Asad Ali Khokhar, defeated PTI’s Nawaz Awan in Lahore’s PP 168, Khokhar got 26169 votes while Awan got 15767 votes.

Malik Hasan Aslam Khan of PTI won from PP 83 in Khushab.

PTI’s Malik Hasan Aslam defeated independent candidate Muhammad Asif Malik and the PML-N candidate by securing 50,749 votes.

Independent candidate Muhammad Asif Malik got 43587 votes and PML-N candidate Amir Hyder Singha got 35395 votes and came second and third respectively.

According to the results of all polling stations of PP 217 (Multan), PTI candidate Makhdoom Zain Qureshi defeated PML-N candidate Salman Naeem.

According to the unofficial results, PTI’s Makhdoom Zain Qureshi won with 47252 votes.

From PP 288 (Dera Ghazi Khan), Sardar Mohammad Saifuddin Khosa, the candidate of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf won with 58166 votes, while from PP 202 (Sahiwal), the candidate of PTI’s, Major (retd) Muhammad Ghulam Sarwar, won, defeating a PML-N candidate.

From PP 140 (Sheikhupura), PTI’s Khurram Shehzad Work was declared successful after getting 50166 votes.

Independent candidate Pir Rafiuddin and PTI candidate Muhammad Amir Iqbal won from two constituencies 228 and 224 of Lodhran respectively.

According to the unofficial and inconclusive results of all 158 polling stations of PP 224 (Lodhran), PTI’s Mohammad Amir Iqbal Shah won with 69881 votes.

In two constituencies 125 and 127 of Jhang, both the candidates of PTI defeated the PML-N candidates.

According to the results received by PP127 (Jhang), PTI’s Mehr Nawaz won with 7171648 votes.

Candidates of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and PML-N won the two electoral seats of Muzaffargarh 272 and 273 respectively.

According to the Election Commission, Muazzam Ali Khan got 4669 votes, while Sabatin Raza of PML-N was declared successful after 59679 people voted for him in PP 273 (Muzaffargarh).

PTI’s Ali Afzal Sahi became the successful candidate from PP97 (Faisalabad) by getting 67220 votes.

Apart from this, according to the election results of PP90 (Bhakkar), PTI’s Irfanullah Niazi defeated PML-N’s Saeed Akbar Nawani.

According to the unofficial and inconclusive results of Rawalpindi Constituency PP-7, PML-N’s Umid and Raja Saghir won with 68906 votes while Shabbir Awan lost with 53333 votes.

According to the unofficial and inconclusive result of PP 237 (Bahawalnagar), PML-N won the field, PML-N candidate Fida Hussain got 66,398 votes while PTI candidate Syed Aftab Raza got 31,148 votes.

From PP 282 Leh, PTI candidate Qaisar Abbas Khan won with 57118 votes, and PML-N candidate Muhammad Tahir was second with 38758 votes.

Among the 20 seats in Punjab, four in Rawalpindi, Khushab, Bhakkar, Faisalabad, Sheikhupura, Sahiwal, Multan, Bahawalnagar and Leh, two in Jhang, two in Lodhran, two in Muzaffargarh and one in Dera Ghazi Khan.

The Election Commission received the results of all 3131 polling stations through the Result Management System (RMS) system, the voting turnout in 20 constituencies was 49.69 per cent.

PTI took first place with 46.08% votes, PML-N took second place with 39.05% votes.

Apart from this, independent candidates got 7.7 per cent of votes while Tehreek-e-Labaik Pakistan (TLP) got five per cent of votes, the total number of voters in 20 constituencies was 4579898.

These by-elections were held after the country’s top electoral authority on May 20 de-seated 25 dissident MPAs of the PTI (the former ruling party) who voted for PML-N’s Hamza Shahbaz in the election for Punjab chief minister, stating that they had defected.

Currently, Elahi is in the running to become the chief minister while there are at least four independent candidates that support Hamza Shahbaz, one member of the Rahe Haq Party and one newly elected independent member will vote for Chaudhry.
