We’re finally breaking up with Internet Explorer

End of an error, one Twitter user called it

It’s time to say our final goodbyes to Internet Explorer, our one and only long-term romance. When more search engines were added, things got a little rocky, but it will always be our one true love.

After a 27-year career, Microsoft has announced that Internet Explorer will be retired on June 15, with the browser being phased out completely. Twitter has been a touch sentimental about it. The search engine hasn’t been used in a long time, and it’s famous for being the punchline of several jokes based on its abysmal speed. It is, nonetheless, linked to many of our first Internet memories, when Internet Explorer was the only option available.

The search engine debuted in August 1995 and was considered to be the most popular search engine by 1996. It was Javascript-enabled, a huge deal back in the day, and allowed users to view JPEGs and GIFs.

Here are some twitter memes, that will either spark a waterfall of tears or endless laughs when you think about Internet Explorer.

Some even tried to use the search engine for the last time
This user was still being asked if they wanted Internet Explorer to be their browser

Microsoft has already converted its successor, Edge to Chromium, which inhibits the same foundation as the Google Chrome web browser.
