Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday said that he would show the “foreign conspiracy” letter to senior journalists of the country and one member of each of the coalition partners today, urging lawmakers to not become part of such a plot to topple his government.

“People think this is some kind of drama. This is not some sort of drama. We were just thinking about protecting our country from this. We cannot explicitly tell our country that who was these people who threatened us,” he said addressing the launching ceremony of the e-passport facility in Islamabad.

The premier asserted that he wants to dispel the notion that this was some last gasp theatric to save his government. "That’s why I have decided that I will share it [letter] with the top journalists of Pakistan,” he said, adding that he also wanted people who had unintentionally become party to the conspiracy to realize what they have been doing.

PM Imran added that he would call one representative from every coalition partner and show them the letter that would unmask the international conspiracy ” and convince them that the document is real. “This is a much bigger conspiracy than I am talking about which is evident in the document,” he said.

The premier said he would leave it to the people to decide on the matter. But, he forewarned them of becoming part of a “bigger conspiracy” against Pakistan.

He was of the view that political crises do occur in countries, citing that such developments were not new in parliamentary democracies and termed the no-confidence vote the “right, democratic way”. However, he termed the ongoing no-trust vote against him a “foreign imported crisis”.

The premier alleged that the crisis was akin to what had happened in the past when people living abroad controlled Pakistan with a phone call. “Due to a single phone call, we had to do things that were against our national interest."

Such people do not want leadership in Pakistan that takes decisions according to the country’s interest, he said, continuing that they wanted those who were willing to sacrifice the country's interests for others. "This is what happened in the war on terror."

The premier that Pakistan suffered due to its participation in the US-led 'War on Terror' focusing on Afghanistan.

He lamented that such a campaign had an adverse impact on the tribal people, with scores killed and injured in attacks. “Due to the large distance, we were not aware of their state. 3.5 million migrated from tribal areas and zakat givers overnight became zakat takers,” PM Imran said, adding that no one questioned such a situation.

The premier alleged that the country had sacrificed its national interest for such a nation, which did not even appreciate Pakistan for the support. “External forces in Pakistan are not used to seeing such a leadership which puts its country’s interests forward,” he said, “Independent foreign policy means a policy which puts its country’s interest forward.”

The premier had also talked about petty and big corruption, saying that the government through such electronic measures has overcome petty crimes. He stressed the need for transparency in government services.

“Technology helps in identifying and reducing corruption in every field.”

He hailed the overseas Pakistanis' contribution to the economy that helped sustain the economy amid the increasing oil prices.
