Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) president Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain on Tuesday urged the opposition and the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf to call off their rallies at D-Chowk in Islamabad in the greater interest of the country, Aaj News reported.

"Holding rallies is not the job of the government," the PTI-government ally emphasised while calling on all sides to exercise restraint to ensure the ongoing political crisis doesn't spiral out of control.

According to the reports, Chaudhry urged the opposition and the government to immediately cancel their rallies in the federal capital to avoid any untoward situation.

The PDM opposition alliance has announced a protest in the capital to put pressure on the PTI ahead of the no-confidence vote, while the ruling PTI has called for a power show of its own on March 27, a day before the expected date of the vote.

Shujaat warned that the politics of tit-for-tat could create political chaos and a crisis, which would benefit Pakistan's internal and external enemies.

He advised the opposition and the ruling PTI to set their egos aside and participate in the no-confidence motion in a democratic way.

Responding to the statement made by federal minister Asad Umar in which the minister called PML-Q a 'party of few districts', Shujaat said that those who are considering PML-Q a small party should not forget that the party has taken big decisions in the larger interests of the country and for democracy.
