Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Friday rejected the possibility of any cooperation with India regarding investigation of Uri attack, saying India itself has no evidence.

The Interior Minister while talking to media persons at NADRA headquarters said, "India had started levelling allegations against Pakistan even before the Uri attack was over, without having any substantial evidence".

Khan said that India imposed censorship on its media when their lies were exposed while we have placed no restriction or censorship on our media, he said.

He said a senior Indian army officer contradicted the statement of DGMO India in which he claimed that weapons recovered from the slain attackers bore Pakistani markings.

He said: "It is India, not Pakistan that has to answer." To a question about India granting asylum to exiled Baloch leader Brahamdagh Bugti, he said that India's intention clearly proved that who is behind terrorists.

Pakistan will send a reference to Interpol in the next few weeks through Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to press India to hand over exiled Baloch leader Brahamdagh Bugti to another question regarding MQM, he said a defining situation has developed in Karachi as the MQM headed by Dr Farooq Sattar has taken brave and courageous decisions in the last two to three days.

"After the bold steps taken by MQM led by Dr Farooq Sattar, there must be no doubt about the fact that there exists no understanding between MQM-Pakistan and Altaf Hussain", he said, adding that no one could even think that MQM founder's own party would stand against him.

He said that we need to give space and support to those people who stood against those who raised anti-Pakistan slogans.

About the incident of a brawl between motorways police personnel and army officers, he said "it should not be regarded as a small incident it is a very serious issue".

He said if the incident happened somewhere else then he would have thoroughly investigated it by himself but motorways police has a very good reputation and they never misbehave with even an ordinary person. Therefore, it is absolutely wrong that mistake was committed by motorways police, he said.

He said that he believed it is a serious test case for the discipline and image of armed force. "It should not only be investigated but action should be taken against those people who take law in their own hands," he said, adding a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) has been constituted in this regard and he hoped that it would make the right decision.

He said it is a test case for GHQ also and the way Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif had set good precedents about transparency in the past and he would live up to his reputation by setting good precedents in this case as well.

To a question about deployment of Rangers in Punjab province, he said that wherever there is a need, Rangers and army would be used in Punjab.

He said a multi-pronged mechanism has been introduced in National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) as a national security drive. During the last four months 80 million CNICs out of 105 million CNICs have been revivified, he said.

He said that out of total verified CNICs about 60000 were fake. He said that 50000 fake CNICs have been blocked and Intelligence Agencies are working on the remaining 10000 CNICs. He said during the revivification of the CNICs, about two thousand foreigners have returned CNICs voluntarily.

He said that Nadra centres will be set up in big cities including Karachi, Lahore, Gujranwala, Peshawar and Quetta during the next five months.

He said that a National Monitoring Helpline of Nadra will be set up that will be directly supervised by the Ministry of Interior. Khan said that 2000 fake passports were also cancelled.

He said 29000 passports issued to the foreigners are also cancelled. E-passport system will be introduced in the country during the next three months, he said. -Business Recorder
