At least one solider dies in shooting at Madagascar's main airport
At least one soldier died in an exchange of gunfire on Saturday on a military base at Antananarivo airport where a general and soldiers have been holed up since Friday calling for the president to resign, witnesses said.
The situation remained confused Saturday at the international airport of Antananarivo-Ivato after gunfire forced the rerouting of several flights.
"A shooting took place at 4:30 am (0130 GMT)" at the Ivato military base, said the technical director of the company managing Malagasy airports.
At least "one soldier was killed" in the shooting, said Paul Andre Raveloarimanana, press spokesman for the defence ministry.
