Thousands of people, including top PPP leadership and workers have reached Garhi Khuda Bux village, Sindh to observe second death anniversary of their beloved leader and former prime minister Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Shaheed.
The death anniversary on Sunday is being observed with simplicity in reverence to the Ashura of Muharram-ul-Haram, when Muslims mourn incident of Karbala.
Thus, this year the nation is observing Karbala and Liaqat Bagh incidents together. Briefing about schedule of the ceremonies, a senior PPP leader told this news agency that recitation from the Holy Quran will be held in divisional headquarters of all the four provinces, besides Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Jammu Kashmir and the federal capital.
Meanwhile, many civil society organisations on their part have chalked out memorial references to remember the great leader, who sacrificed her life for cause of democracy and empowerment of people of her homeland. President Asif Ali Zardari, who is also co-chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has also reached the Naudero, where he is scheduled to attend the anniversary.
Earlier, Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, visited the graves of the martyrs of Bhutto family in Garhi Khuda Bux this Saturday evening, on the eve of second death anniversary of his mother Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto."
He laid a floral wreath there besides offering Fateha," an APP correspondent reported from native town of the Bhutto family. Bilawal also laid floral wreath at the graves of Founder - Chairman of PPP Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, Shaheed Mir Murtaza Bhutto and Shaheed Mir Shahnawaz Bhutto and offered `Fateha' for their departed souls.
Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, his two sons and daughter were assassinated by the anti-democracy forces, however, their legacy still continues to rule the hearts and minds of hundreds and millions of people across the globe, especially Pakistan.
"Well, Bhuttoism is merely not a slogan, it is indeed a philosophy, which has deep roots in the masses due to exemplary commitment and sacrifices of martyrs of Garhi Khuda Bux," senior PPP leader Dr Israr Shah said. "Ms Bhutto was inspired from Bibi Zainab (A.S) and martyrs of Karbala. She always quoted Bibi Zainab's example to encourage us whenever we got were disappointed on some occasions," Shah added.
He said that said that the former prime minister had a very humble and charismatic personality. Besides, she never compromised over the principles. "Benazir Bhutto preferred death over the compromise. Although She is physically not with us but her wisdom, her vision, her manifesto and her thought is still alive," Shah remarked in emotional tone.
On the other hand, thousands of people could be seen standing in queues to visit the final rest place of martyred daughter Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, her father Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and brother, TV footage showed.
Significant security measures have been taken and Sindh government has deployed thousands of cops and officers the vigilance, a provincial government official said, adding that scanners were installed at the entry point while strip search was also being conducted if required. Besides, sniffer dogs were being used for detection and vehicle search was ensured.
